I provide individual, family, and group therapy to adolescents and adults. For me, therapy is a collaborative relationship between client and therapist that emphasizes shared goals, empathy, and understanding. I work diligently to establish a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients because this is the foundation of the therapeutic work.
I utilize a strengths-based approach in therapy to identify the personal assets and skills (e.g., good sense of humor, caring for others, commitment to work and/or family) that you are engaging in that promotes resilience. My goal is to build on the foundation that is already there that fosters resilience.
My therapeutic techniques involves using Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance, Relaxation Training, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy to provide psychoeducation and teach you additional skills that can effectively address your unique concerns. My emphasis is to teach you skills that you can use in your everyday encounters to better manage and have more control of your life.
When working with adolescents, family sessions are encouraged to provide psychoeducation about the presenting problem and how it is impacting the family unit, increase communication among family members, and discuss how to use problem solving strategies to promote resilience among the family unit.
